I have Wii fit, fit+ and this title. This one is by far and away the best!!! Wii fit is much more expensive and not as good of a workout. Buy wii fit only if you are starting from ground zero. It may be useful for you to be able to weigh yourself and start slow. But if you can walk comfortably without sweating, wii fit's clunky interface will not be challenging. It takes so long to go between exercises and you make fun of the trainer because he/she ALWAYS says the same things.Maya is motivating, she takes you through a real workout, and only hangs up once in a while, usually after she has asked you how you are doing. You will do about 15 minutes of cardio, high and low impact, no matter how long a routine you have chosen. Then you will go into your or Maya's area of focus for the day. If you have one of the wrist operated heart rate monitors and light weights or water bottles, you will enjoy the workout even more. Keep in mind this is essentially a toning workout. There are a few cons-when Maya asks you how you did in the last segment, the choices are very small and it is easy to hit the wrong one, affecting your next workout(s) negatively. If you are working hard, and you accidentally hit "No sweat" and tell Maya to pump up the routine next time, be prepared. So make sure you focus and hit the right one, as there is no option to change your answer. Also, if you choose a duration over 30 minutes, she doesn't stick to your daily focus. For example, I usually choose a 45 minute workout and a different focus area than Maya. So, when I chose "Upper Body" as my focus, I got the usual 15 minutes of aerobics, but then I got 15 or so minutes of LOWER body, and then the last 15 was upper body. I really wanted a half hour of upper body as I had worked lower the day before. And sometimes it can seem that she only knows how to do leg extensions and nothing else for lower. I will have to experiment, but it may be best to do 30 minutes of Maya and 15 minutes on my own or back to Wii fit for 15 mins.Since I have both titles, now I weigh myself, do a body test, and input Maya's workout time in the wii fit, then do Maya's workout. So I've spent $[...] to get a good workout, and you can spend less than $20, not including the console. Good luck!10-31-2010 updateI've gone over 140 workouts with Maya now and have a couple of tips.I don't use it for yoga, but the 15 minute duration is best for cardio. The 30 minute duration is the sweet spot for other areas. You'll warm up, hit your long-term focus, your daily focus, then a little from another area, then a cool down. I've also found you can get a longer aerobic workout by changing your long term focus to "cardio" prior to your workout. Otherwise, if you pick "cardio" and leave your long term focus, you'll only get about 12 minutes of cardio and then move on and do about 20 minutes of something else when you really wanted to do cardio only.If you pick a 15 minute duration with a daily focus, she'll do short routines of two other areas. Make sure you hit "I was working hard" on these or she will ramp up those areas when you didn't really work them at all.Her favorite exercises are "squat lunge" and "Side Crunches". She will usually do both sides twice, so these exercises can sometimes fill up your routine. After you get to know the drill, sometimes I will do other exercises when she's doing these. For example, sometimes when she does side crunches so much, she forgets to do regular crunches, so I'll do those.Hope this helps. Still the best Wii workout. For those of you who are gun shy after getting burned by the Jillian Michaels Fitness Ultimatum, there is no reason to wait. JMFU was garbage. This is the real thing. It does not use a balance board. Some people seem to have a problem with that but it's not like they claimed to have balance board support and failed to deliver. The description in Amazon of what it does is completely accurate. Also, if it had balance board support it would be nearly twice the price.I received it yesterday and have done 2 workouts on it.Things I like (There is no way that I will hit all the good features):1. There was a very thorough fitness test when you first set up a profile. I wish Wii Fit had something this comprehensive.2. Maya, the coach, is a pleasure to work out with. She has a pleasing voice. She asks how you felt during a segment of the workout. The choices are No Sweat, I Was Working Hard, and I Couldn't Keep Up. If you choose the first or the third answer, Maya promises to adjust that segment the next time she presents it during a workout.3. I like being able to change the environment that Maya leads the workout from and I like that the view of Maya changes during the workout.4. You can incorporate other equipment into the workout. I happened to have an unused step, some weights and a stability ball stored in the basement. Neither of the workouts I did so far used the stability ball.5. I still use the advanced step program on the Wii Fit but it is the same every time and the step is so low. With this I am able to use a real step and adjust it to the height I want to get the best workout.6. The routines scroll across the bottom so I can see how much is left of the current routine and which routine is coming up next.7. The tutorial feature was a necessity for me. When Maya started a routine that wasn't clear to me I selected the tutorial. Maya explained how to do it. It repeats until I select Resume. Then Maya restarts the routine.8. A workout DVD repeats the same workout every time. This game is dynamic. I need that kind of variety.Things I didn't like:1. I don't have a large space to work out in. I needed to have the step in a place where there was sufficient space to do the step routines but I also needed enough space to perform the non-step aerobic routines. I banged into a couch a few times. I think I'll be able to work this out after a few workouts.2. This is probably related to my lack of space but I think I would prefer that it stick to the equipment for a longer time. It used the step, then it didn't, then it did again, and so on. On the other hand, not doing that may interfere with the randomness of the workouts and that would be a bad thing.I had 2 good workouts and definitely recommend this game as long as you have read the description and understand what you are getting.new addition to my fitness programs and it works well - more options for my fitness exercises :)Game does not work. Waste of moneypros:-answer the questions during the workout honestly and the program will customize easier or harder for you.-that it incorporated whatever equipment i have available to me. (weights, step, etc)-i like being able to pick the length of my workout. they aren't overly hard, yet do get me moving.-you do need to have a bit of self discipline to force yourself to put it on and get working out.cons:-it would be nice to tell the program the size of my workout space, i live in an apartment and some of the moves do need to be modified to fit in my living room.-i would also like to be able to tell it of injuries. i cannot do jumping exercises of any kind (jumping jacks, etc) it's too hard on my knees. yet there is no where to inform the program of this so that they are modified or removed. i just have to modify myself on the fly.If you are like me, you've tried a hundred different exercise programs, only to find the virtual trainer pushes you too hard and so you give up. This isn't the case with this program. I've managed to let myself get into terrible shape over the years, so I picked up this program after seeing some positive reviews. The exercises are challenging, but not impossible -- even if you haven't worked out in a decade or more, they are definitely doable. What's better is that you don't feel defeated after doing a circuit, instead it gently lures you in to do more. This is the first program that I haven't shelved after a week. I am really enjoying it and slowly starting to see improvements, particularly in cardio (something I could not imagine myself ever saying). The trainer asks you after each exercise if you found it too easy or too hard and adjusts the program accordingly. The best part is that you can do it in the privacy of your home, so no embarrassment about answering truthfully, which ultimately helps you reach your goals. It comes with just the software, and asks what extra equipment you have at home, like weights, a step board or a yoga ball. The software will then incorporate those items into your workout. You can customize your workouts to focus problem areas, do yoga to relax, or just set goals. And speaking of honesty, it's best to do all your measurements and weight as honestly as possible to get the max benefit from this nifty program. There's no point saying you're more fit than you are if it sets the system up to be more difficult when you first start out. The software also grows with you and changes as your fitness levels rise. Here's to a new, fit, you, on your own terms. Highly recommend this program, I love it.I don't provide a lot of reviews, but I thought I should in this case. I have really benefited from this "game" and so I wanted to let others know that this is very good. This is the only Wii exercise program that I know of that will adapt itself to your fitness level. It isn't perfect, in that it does not ask which exercises you cannot do, and sometimes I have to modify them to avoid hurting myself (I need to avoid jumping). However, most exercises are fine.I really liked that Mia started me out very slowly and recommended a schedule suited to my fitness level, which was originally not very high. In fact, when I started, it was an issue to get down on the floor. Now that I have improved (used it 56 days so far), the exercises are getting more challenging. You inform Mia when she can make the exercises more difficult, and they do become more challenging, slowly. At the end of the session, I feel like I've really had a good workout. The exercises are different each day (other than the warm-up where there doesn't appear to be much variety), and I have stayed interested. In fact, Igenerally look forward to my session. This is in contrast to the DVD's that I've bought in the past. I played them maybe 2 or 3 times before they started gathering dust.My fitness level has improved a lot since I started the program, so I am very thankful that this "game" exists. I can see doing this for a very long time.Just in case you think this is only good for sedentary types, my daughter who is very active watched me and now she uses it herself. Of course, her exercises are more demanding. She gets a very good workout and tells me the exercises she does are challenging at her level too.
